The College of Arts & Letters at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a professor of digital humanities and pre-modern studies at any rank.

The successful candidate will be a distinguished scholar in her or his field with a strong record of innovative research and teaching or, in the case of an appointment at the rank of assistant professor, a scholar with promise of excellence in research and teaching. The University of Notre Dame was founded in November 1842 by Rev. Edward F. Sorin, C.S.C., a priest of the Congregation of Holy Cross, a French missionary order. It is located adjacent to South Bend, Indiana, the center of a metropolitan area with a population of more than 300,000. Chartered by the state of Indiana in 1844, the University was governed by the Holy Cross priests until 1967, when governance was transferred to a two-tiered, mixed board of lay and religious trustees and fellows. Established in 1842, the year Notre Dame was founded, Arts and Letters is the University's oldest college. We have more than 500 faculty, 3,000 undergraduates, and 1,100 graduate students. The College is also the liberal arts home for all Notre Dame students as they take core curriculum courses and electives in everything from theology and philosophy to economics and creative writing.
